Shoe Making Process

It is essential to note that in every step of the shoe making process, our focus is still on the three principles of footwear:

QUALITY – COMFORT – AFFORDABILITY

Step 1: Research and Design

At this stage, we collaborate with our team of designers and research what a person is looking for in a shoe, the comfort and the style they are aiming at. We look at our options in terms of hide selection, types of soles and insoles, trims and buckles. Thereafter we sketch ideas of what type of shoe style and design should look like and make a selection.

Step 2: Pattern Making and Lasting

Once we have an idea of what the customer requires we can then take the sketch to the pattern makers that will make the shoe pattern according to the sketch. Once the sketch is made, a last needs to be chosen (if we don’t have the required shape available, one will be made) for the pattern to be made onto the last. The pattern represents what the end product should look like.

Step 3: Prototyping

Now that we have a pattern we need to move ahead and make a prototype. This is a crucial step as it works hand in hand with the pattern makers and last. The prototype is using the materials selected to make the shoe and see if any adjustments need to be made to the pattern and/or last choice or even the materials chosen. The selected hide is then hand cut according the pattern. The cut material is then assembled by stitching and hand lasted onto the chosen last, and then attaching the sole selected.

Step 4: Fit Test

After the prototype is made, the fit test needs to be done. This ensures that the product is made to the pattern, comfort is there for the customer and if any other alterations need to be made. All prototypes are done according to our company standards.

Step 5: Pattern Grading and Dyes

When the fit test has passed ours and the customer’s standards, we can move ahead with the size grading of patterns and thereafter dyes are made.

Step 6: Production and packaging

At this stage, all the adjustments have been made and we are in full swing of production according to the quantity. Each product is quality checked and packaged in accordance with the customer’s needs.
